What is GHK-Cu?
GHK-Cu is a copper-binding tripeptide — glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine — complexed with copper(II). It occurs naturally in human plasma, and its concentration falls measurably with age, from roughly 200 ng/ml in early adulthood to around a third of that by the seventh decade. That decline is what first drew research attention to it.
The copper is not incidental: the peptide is a carrier, and much of its studied activity depends on the metal it delivers. It is supplied as a lyophilized powder — see the reconstitution guide and the reconstitution calculator for preparation.
Research context
GHK-Cu is examined for copper transport, extracellular-matrix remodelling, and an unusually broad influence on gene expression — published transcriptome work associates it with the modulation of a large number of human genes related to tissue repair and antioxidant response, which is rare for a molecule of three residues.
