What is HGH?
HGH (recombinant human growth hormone, somatropin) is a 191-amino-acid protein hormone produced to match the sequence of pituitary-derived growth hormone. Unlike the secretagogues that prompt the pituitary to release its own supply, this is the hormone itself — which is why it is the reference standard when a study needs a known, direct input to the growth-hormone receptor.

Research models study signalling through the growth-hormone receptor and the downstream IGF-1 axis, with endpoints spanning cell proliferation, protein synthesis, lipid handling and metabolic regulation. Because it bypasses the pituitary entirely, it is the natural control arm in designs testing whether a secretagogue is producing its effect through the expected pathway.
